DEDICATED TO SUPERIOR ANIMAL CARE

At Ellis County Animal Hospital, we are dedicated to providing superior animal care. Our staff members are professional, caring, and compassionate, giving you peace of mind for your pet. We have a long-standing history in Shattuck, dating back to 1973 when the building first opened its doors under the care of Dr. John Kirpatrick.

Our Team

Our team is led by co-owners Dr. Richard Prather and Dr. Angie Prather, who have been dedicated to providing the best care possible since becoming co-owners in 1990. Dr. Richard Prather is a graduate of Oklahoma State University, Stillwater OK, in 1986 with his DVM. He was named Food Animal Practitioner of the Year in 2004 for his dedication to providing superior treatment to his patients. Dr. Angie Prather is also a graduate of Oklahoma State University, Stillwater OK, in 1987 with her DVM. She is well-known for her dedication to small animal clients and her genuine laugh that keeps everyone in high spirits at the practice.

Our team also includes Kailey Sanders, who started with the practice in 2020 and is the smiling face you see when you walk in. Kailey's family has a variety of livestock, and she herself has both dogs and horses, bringing well-rounded knowledge to the table when assisting clients. Michael Adams, a large animal assistant, is a graduate of Oklahoma Panhandle State University, in 2013 with a Bachelors degree in Agronomy with a minor in Animal Science. He is well-versed in the technical care that the practice offers, but his primary focus has been aiding producers with implementing breeding programs fit for their needs.

Amelia Adams, a registered veterinary technician, is a graduate of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, Curtis NE, in 2012 with an Associates degree in Veterinary Technology Systems with a minor in Agriculture Productions Equine. She has been with the practice since 2012 and brings great expertise for animal care to our practice, extending the veterinarians' capabilities tremendously. Kacie Priest, also a registered veterinary technician, is a graduate of OSU-OKC, in 2019 with an Associates degree in Veterinary Technology. She started with the practice in 2018 and has brought extra compassion for our feline patients. Her family has cattle and horses, but her passion is for exotic animals.

Marty Rash, a large animal assistant, has a long history of cattle and equine management. He is well-versed with daily and specialized care, making him a great asset to the large animal care team. He has been with the clinic since the spring of 2023.
