Fithian LLC is a culmination of the investment expertise and journalistic heritage of our founding portfolio manager, Tania Pouschine. With over three decades of experience, we have developed a unique approach to investing that combines rigorous due diligence with a careful analytical assessment of each business. Our Investment Philosophy

We believe in investing in exceptional businesses with sustainable competitive advantages, attractive growth prospects, superior management teams, and sterling financial profiles. Our objective is to identify and invest in the highest quality businesses globally, with a concentrated portfolio of 15 to 25 holdings. We take a long-term approach to investing, which has helped us recognize great businesses and deliver above-market results over time.

Our Investment Process

Our investment process is built upon a journalistic heritage and three decades of refinement. We conduct extensive primary research to complement our detailed financial analysis, which enables us to develop deep insights into industries and form unique perspectives on businesses. Our approach is rooted in deep research, and many of our investable ideas emerge directly from empirical findings.

Our Team

Our team is comprised of experienced investment professionals with diverse backgrounds and expertise. Tania Pouschine, our founding portfolio manager, has over three decades of experience in investing, journalism, and banking. David Hausmann, one of our analysts, has a strong background in M&A and investment banking, while Derek Valles, another analyst, has a background in economics and strategy. Matt Tambellini, our COO, CCO, and CFO, has extensive experience in asset management and corporate finance. William Medley, our CMO, has a strong background in investor relations and marketing.

By analyzing industries globally, we identify market leaders and compare them on a global basis. This approach allows us to access many of the world's market leaders, including international firms with leadership positions and family-owned businesses with conservative financial structures.

This approach has enabled us to identify exceptional businesses like Lindt (Switzerland) in chocolate, Hermes (France) and Richemont (Switzerland) in luxury goods, Fielmann (Germany) in eyewear, and Straumann (Switzerland) in dental supplies. Our global approach has given us the advantage of being able to seek out the highest quality businesses, wherever they may be located.
