Building Spiritual and Social Well-being for All
Troy Area United Ministries was organized in 1986 as a consolidation of the United Urban Ministry of Troy and the Troy Area Council of Churches. The vision was to combine the social and pastoral ministries of the original organizations into one association. Today, we are a community center that offers a variety of services including meals, HIV/AIDS services, furniture, education, spiritual counseling, and advocacy. Our programs are designed to provide a safe and just space for those in need.
We are proud to have a diverse team of individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the community. Our Board of Directors represents local congregations and the community at large, ensuring that our programs are guided by a broad range of perspectives and expertise.
One of our flagship programs is the Troy Damien Center, which provides meals, social and recreational opportunities, peer support, education, and referral services to individuals infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS. We also have a Furniture Program that distributes good, used furniture to families in need. Additionally, we offer education and spiritual counseling, as well as advocacy services to support our community members.
Last year, we served over 6,780 meals, distributed $275,000 worth of furniture, and helped 668 families. We are grateful for the support of our volunteers and donors, who make it possible for us to continue our work.
