Our Mission

East Texas Community Health Services, Inc. (ETCHSI) is a private, not-for-profit corporation born from a commitment to bridge the healthcare gap for underserved individuals and families across East Texas. Founded in 1987, our mission has remained steadfast: to provide accessible, cost-effective healthcare to all who need it, regardless of their insurance status or financial situation. Since our inception, ETCHSI has grown significantly, evolving into the leading multi-specialty primary care practice within a 50-mile radius of Nacogdoches. We take immense pride in serving as a cornerstone of health and wellness for our community.

Our dedicated team of Board/Nationally Certified Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nurse Midwives, nurses, social workers, and support staff work tirelessly to ensure that each patient receives compassionate, personalized care. Our commitment extends beyond traditional medical services; we also offer vital dental care, ensuring that our patients' overall well-being is addressed holistically.

Our strong foundation allows us to offer a generous sliding fee schedule, making quality healthcare attainable for everyone. This sliding scale is based on individual household income and family size, ensuring that financial barriers do not impede access to essential medical and dental care. We believe that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of their financial circumstances.

A Community Health Center Committed to Excellence

We are a federally qualified health center (FQHC) and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n) and an FTCA deemed facility. This designation reflects our deep commitment to providing exceptional care for the underserved populations of Rusk, Angelina, Cherokee, Sabine, San Augustine, and Shelby Counties. Our dedication to our mission is further solidified by grants received from esteemed organizations such as the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the Texas Department of State Health Services, the TL Temple Foundation, and the United Way. These partnerships empower us to continue providing vital healthcare services to those in need.

Beyond our commitment to service, ETCHSI actively participates in nationwide programs aimed at mitigating the impact of chronic diseases. We are passionate about empowering individuals to take control of their health, proactively managing chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and hypertension. Our diabetes education program is particularly impactful, equipping patients with the knowledge and resources necessary to effectively manage their diabetes and lead healthier lives.
