O'Brien's Inn

O'Brien's Inn, a historic establishment nestled on the top of Waverly Hill, offers a unique and memorable experience to its guests. The history of O'Brien's Inn dates back to 1918 when two brothers, Ed & Bill O'Brien, opened a hot dog stand near the site of the current inn. The brothers provided food and drink to travelers whose vehicles overheated while making the climb up the hill. This marked the beginning of a rich history that has evolved and grown over the years.

In 1926, Ed opened the O'Brien's Log Cabin Diner on Broad St in Waverly, NY. The diner soon gained popularity and became a local favorite. In 1946, O'Brien's restaurant was constructed, offering a more extensive menu and a comfortable dining experience. In 1964, the 24-unit motel was constructed, providing accommodations for weary travelers and tourists. In 1970, the bar and lounge were built between the restaraunt and motel, completing the establishment's full-service offerings.

O'Brien's Inn boasts of its scenic dining room, which has been named "America's Most Scenic" by Views to Dine By. The view from here is so magnificent that a photograph of it by an amateur, James B. Gilitz, a Binghamton NY attorney, won eighth place in a contest featuring 8,400 photographs from all over the world. This recognition speaks volumes about the breathtaking views that guests can enjoy while dining at O'Brien's Inn. The Courier Magazine described it as "Heaven on a Hilltop" and "One of the architectural Wonders of the World." Indeed, O'Brien's Inn offers one of the most amazing views, anytime of year, making it an ideal destination for any occasion.

Today, O'Brien's Inn is now owned by Jesse Streeter and managed by Hospitality expert Scott Yeager. The establishment continues to provide excellent service and quality offerings to its guests.
