About Us

Fogelvik Furniture is owned and operated by Mats Fogelvik, a designer, artist, and woodworker who has been living in Hawaii since 1991. With a rich background in Scandinavian woodworking traditions, Mats is attracted to simplicity, beauty, and function in a form. He believes that furniture should strive for a balance between beauty, function, and sculptural value, and he is not afraid to use old, well-proven designs in his work to achieve this delicate balance.

Mats has been featured in various exhibitions and publications for his exceptional work. Some of these recognitions include being featured in "Art Maui" from 1998 to 2006, "Woods of Hawaii" from 1998 to 2018, and the Hawaii Craftsmen State Wide juried Exhibition from 1998 to 2010. He has also been featured in HGTV's "Modern Masters" and in "A Custom Furniture Source Book" by Taunton Press.
