Pioneer Theatre

Pioneer Theatre Company's mission is to create a theatrical experience of the highest professional standards, producing an eclectic mix of classic, contemporary, and world premiere theatre that challenges, educates, and entertains. Situated in the heart of Salt Lake City, at the top of Broadway (300 South) and 1400 East, our fully professional theatre in-residence at the University of Utah presents a seven-show season, running from September through May. Our seasons consist of a mixture of classics, large-scale musicals, and contemporary dramas and comedies. Over the past decade, Pioneer Theatre Company has earned a reputation for providing Broadway-quality productions, having mounted numerous Utah premieres and regional theatre premieres.

A Reputation For Quality

In 2006-2007, Pioneer Theatre Company made headlines as the first regional theatre in the country to be granted the rights to produce Les Miserables. The musical's magnificent 82-performance run, all of which were sold out, further solidified PTC's reputation for efficiently producing large-scale productions. In fall 2022, we were proud to present the Broadway-bound musical Shucked, directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien and written by the dynamic duo of Robert Horn and Brandy Clark. These achievements only scratch the surface of PTC's long-standing commitment to excellence in the performing arts.
