Who We Are

Pleasant Times Learning Center (PTLC) is a family-owned educational service that has been proudly serving the Winthrop community since 1993. We started with a simple goal in mind: to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can thrive, explore, and be themselves. At PTLC, we value positivity, equality, and love, and we strive to create a community where everyone feels safe, connected, and a part of the journey.

PTLC was founded by the late Roseann Tavares, whose passion for education and love for children shaped a program that is unlike any other. Her legacy lives on through her daughter, Andrea, who now runs the center. Andrea shares the same passion and love for children and has added her own personal touch to the education program.

Our Philosophy

At PTLC, we believe that children learn best through exploration and discovery. We provide a diverse and hands-on environment where children can learn and develop at their own pace. Our activities are designed to promote social-emotional wellbeing, inclusivity, and diversity. We believe that children should have the freedom to be creative and expressive, while also gaining the skills they need for kindergarten readiness.

Our Programs

PTLC offers a range of programs to meet the needs of families in the Winthrop community. We care for infants through age 6 and strive to create a safe, educational, and exciting environment for every child. Our programs include:

• Infant Program: Our infant program is designed to meet the unique needs of our youngest learners. We provide a safe and nurturing environment where infants can develop at their own pace. Our activities are designed to promote physical, emotional, and cognitive growth.
• Toddler Program: Our toddler program is designed to promote independence and self-confidence. We provide a variety of activities that encourage children to explore and discover the world around them. Our teachers work closely with parents to provide consistent care and support.
• Preschool Program: Our preschool program is designed to prepare children for kindergarten. We provide a structured environment where children can learn important skills such as letter recognition, counting, and socialization. We also provide opportunities for creative expression and exploration.

An Inclusive Environment

At PTLC, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where children, families, and staff feel at home. We believe that diversity is a strength and we promote inclusivity through diversity awareness and by creating a welcoming environment for all. PTLC is a safe place where everyone can share their thoughts, feelings, and values.

Family Communication

We believe that communication is key to creating a strong partnership between parents and teachers. We focus on building relationships and communicating with families through extensive communication and by using an app called brightwheel. Brightwheel allows us to provide constant updates throughout the day and include parents in their child's experience.

Our Staff

Our staff is highly trained and dedicated to providing the best possible care for every child. We work alongside parents to ensure that each child gets the individual care needed to grow and develop. Our small, cozy center ensures that every child gets the attention they deserve.
