Lapham Heating and Cooling is a local, family-owned and operated company that has been serving the Plainwell, MI community since 1962. Founded by Jim and Joyce Lapham, the business started in their home in Martin, MI, before expanding to its current location on 10th Street in Plainwell, MI, in 1998. Over the years, the company has grown to include a larger building, a larger service vehicle fleet, and more employees. In 2010, as the housing market began to tumble, the company began training all of its employees to be service technicians and installers.
At Lapham Heating and Cooling, we are committed to providing high-quality products and services to our customers. We specialize in installing and repairing residential and light commercial heating and cooling units, and we offer 24-hour emergency service for those unexpected breakdowns. Our team of experts is trained to service the brands that we install, including Comfortmaker furnaces and air conditioners, Burnham Boilers, Bard oil furnaces and Geo Thermal heat pumps, and Bradfor White Water Heaters.
New Refrigerant Coming Out
The refrigerant that we currently use in our air conditioning systems has been found to have a negative impact on global warming. As a result, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has mandated a change to a new refrigerant, which will take effect on January 1, 2025. The new refrigerant, R410a, is still available, and parts will continue to be available to maintain your current system. However, after the change to the new refrigerant, new air conditioning systems will be 15-25% more expensive to purchase. While many manufacturers have already begun using the new refrigerant, there is still an inventory of existing equipment that may last until the end of summer or beyond.
Defender Safety System
At Lapham Heating and Cooling, we prioritize the safety of our customers. That's why we offer the Defender Safety System, which is designed to protect your home and family from the potential hazards of a heating system. The system includes a flame rollout switch, a vent pipe sensor, and a pressure switch to ensure that your heating system is operating safely and efficiently.
Electrification
There has been growing interest in changing home heating systems from gas or oil furnaces to heat pumps. The Federal government has issued tax incentives for heat pumps, and there are also utility rebates available. With newer technology, the new systems are able to heat homes even at outside temperatures below zero. Heat pumps use electricity to operate a pump (compressor) to move heat, rather than making it. They capture heat from the outside and transfer it inside to heat your home.
