At JAN Electric LLC, we take pride in our family's legacy that has spanned over five decades. Our story began in 1952 when John A. Storcel entered into a partnership with another electrician, focusing primarily on residential work. Over time, they branched out into apartment complexes, but John had bigger dreams. He envisioned expanding into the industrial and commercial properties, which his partner did not share. This led to the dissolution of their partnership, and in 1962, John and his wife, Geraldine, founded JAN Electric Company, Inc. in the basement of their North Riverside, IL home.

In the first five years, the company grew rapidly, moving to a new office on Cermak Road. They continued to grow in the industrial and commercial areas, primarily working for a dozen major General Contractors. During this time, they hired and trained several electricians, leading to the company branching out into conveyor wiring. As the field work increased, so did the need for more office staff, which is when John and Geraldine's daughter, Marilyn, began working for the company. Her husband, Joseph W. Moore III, also joined the team, starting with material delivery before moving to drafting and eventually completing a four-year electrician's apprenticeship with various contractors.

When John decided to retire, Geraldine took the helm, utilizing her management and accounting skills to run the company. However, she needed someone she could trust to take on the responsibility of Supervising Electrician in charge of sales, bidding, and overseeing the running of field projects. The most logical choice was Joseph, who had worked for the company for over ten years as a Foreman, General Foreman, and Area General Foreman. In March of 1988, Joe left the field and moved back into the office alongside Geraldine and Marilyn.

Since taking on leadership of the company in 1988, Marilyn and Joe have led the company to new levels of success. By this point, the company was actively working in the counties of Cook, DuPage, Lake, Elgin, Will, Kane, and the Rockford locals. The company continued to grow, necessitating the addition of more field staff. They moved the office from North Riverside, IL to Lyons, IL, where it stayed until 2016. In 2002, their eldest son, Joe Moore IV, was brought on as Vice President of the company after serving his own electrical apprenticeship. This began a transition into a third generation of a family-operated company.

Today, JAN Electric LLC is a proud family-owned and operated business, now in its third generation. We are certified as a Women's Business Enterprise by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council, the nation's largest third-party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women in the U.S. We are located in Countryside, IL, and continue to grow and expand our services to meet the needs of our clients.

Our Services

At JAN Electric LLC, we offer a variety of services to meet the electrical needs of our clients. These include design/build services, planned spec electrical design, maintenance and service, controls testing, fire alarm, and low voltage services. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality workmanship and exceptional customer service to ensure that our clients are completely satisfied with our services.

Our design/build services allow us to work closely with our clients to design and construct their electrical systems from start to finish. This process allows for a more streamlined and efficient project, as we can address any potential issues early on and make adjustments as needed. Our planned spec electrical design services involve working with our clients to create detailed specifications for their electrical systems, ensuring that all of their needs are met and that the system is installed correctly and efficiently.

In addition to our design and construction services, we also offer maintenance and service for existing electrical systems. This includes routine inspections and repairs to ensure that the system is functioning properly and safely. Our controls testing services involve checking the electrical controls of a system to ensure that they are working correctly and efficiently. We also offer fire alarm services, including installation, inspection, and repair of fire alarm systems to keep our clients' properties safe.

Finally, our low voltage services include the installation, maintenance, and repair of low voltage electrical systems, such as security systems, data cabling, and more. Portfolio and Projects

Over the years, JAN Electric LLC has had the privilege of working on a variety of projects for our clients. Some of our recent projects include the Amazon Last Mile Sort Facility in Merrillville, IN, the Nature's Fynd Food Growing Facility in Chicago, IL, and the Home Depot MDO/MDC Facility in Northlake, IL. We have also worked on the Olam Cocoa Process Facility in Bolingbrook, IL, the Professional Freezing Refrigerated Facility in Bedford Park, IL, and a 1.5 million square foot build-to-suit for Centerpoint Properties in Joliet, IL.

In addition to these projects, we have also worked on a 1 million square foot refrigerated and ambient warehouse, a 250,000 square foot freezer for Prologis in Minooka, IL, and the Pinstripes Bowling, Bocci, and Restaurant in Oakbrook, IL. Our portfolio showcases our ability to handle a wide range of projects, from large industrial facilities to smaller commercial properties.
