Plum Architects

PLUM is a small San Francisco-based architecture firm founded in 2004, well-versed in educational, residential, historical, community, and commercial programs. We approach design by fostering a collaborative relationship with clients focused on the development of direct and buildable projects. Our goal is to reveal a project's singular nature and discover through design an identity that is individual and memorable. Our practice is purposeful, rooted in our passion for design, proactive communication methods, and negotiating skills that carry through from sketch to finish nail.

We are proud of our diverse portfolio, which includes projects such as the Filipino Education Center, receiving the Coalition for Adequate School Housing Award of Merit in 2009, and the Forestville School Adaptive Reuse Library, which earned an AIA Interior Architecture Citation Award in 2007. Our team is certified as a San Francisco Local Woman-Owned Business Enterprise and a San Francisco Green Business.

Our team includes experienced architects like Justine Hewitt, with over twenty years of experience in architectural design and project management, and Roberta Wahl, who has decades of professional experience in the United States and Europe. Rebecca Guarda, another key member, brings extensive experience in Project Management across three continents.

Recent Projects

Some of our recent projects include the Hillside Elementary School New Library and Classroom Buildings, where we designed a welcoming circular library and new classroom buildings that integrate seamlessly with the surrounding environment. We also worked on the John O'Connell High and Bessie Carmichael Middle School, Forestville Elementary, and the San Miguel CDC, among others.
