Meet Dr. Gregory Lavigne
Board-certified orthopedic surgeon Dr. Gregory Lavigne is part of the orthopedics program at Southeastern Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, which is a department of Pardee Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. Dr. Lavigne specializes in upper and lower extremity trauma surgery and adult reconstructive orthopedic surgery. He received his medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed his residency and fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Dr. Lavigne is a member of the teaching faculty at Allegheny General Hospital and is very attentive to his patients, taking the time to explain all procedures in detail so patients know what to expect.

Orthopedic Care
The reviews below provide a mixed assessment of an orthopedic doctor's care. While one reviewer had a nearly five-star experience, another reviewer had a severe negative experience. A third reviewer had a positive experience with the doctor's office staff, but did not receive surgical care.
Injury Recovery
Paul Agnello, a five-star reviewer, reported having a traumatic femur injury while mountain biking. Despite the severity of the injury, the doctor did not "sugar coat the situation" and was able to achieve a successful recovery. Agnello credits the doctor with helping him return to his active lifestyle, including hiking and mountain biking. However, Agnello notes that the injured leg may be slightly longer due to the recovery process, which other reviewers have complained about.
Office Staff
Dorothy Collins, a four-star reviewer, praised the friendly office staff and the doctor's non-steroidal treatments. However, Collins noted that the doctor may not be at the same location she visited.
Poor Experience
Rose M. Melanson, a one-star reviewer, had a disastrous experience with the doctor. Melanson's husband had a procedure that the doctor changed mid-surgery, resulting in significant complications, including four infections. The doctor later suggested amputation, which Melanson's husband did not receive. Melanson highly recommends against seeking care from this doctor.
