At Skytown Preschool, we strive to create a warm and welcoming environment where children can grow and thrive. Our mission is to provide a play-based, emergent curriculum that fosters the development of self-confident, compassionate, and empathetic human beings. We believe that by working together with parents, we can create a community that supports the growth and learning of our children.

Our Philosophy

We believe that children learn best through play and exploration. Our classroom is designed to be a vibrant and engaging environment, where children can use their imagination and creativity to learn and grow. We use elements of the Reggio Emilia philosophy to allow the curriculum to emerge from the children's own interests and passions.

Our Programs

We offer a range of programs for children from 18 months to 5 years of age. Our Toddler Program is designed for children aged 18 months to 3 years, while our Preschool Program is designed for children aged 2 to 5 years. Both programs are play-based and emergent, and are designed to support the unique needs and interests of each child.

Toddler Program

Our Toddler Program is designed for children aged 18 months to 3 years. This program is a unique and intimate setting where children are cared for in a ratio of one adult to three children. Our experienced teachers and parents work together to create a warm and nurturing environment that supports the development of each child.

Preschool Program

Our Preschool Program is designed for children aged 2 to 5 years. This program is designed to be a part-time schedule, with the option to attend 3, 4, or 5 days per week. Our preschool classroom is designed to be a big and bright, with many different areas to explore. Our teachers and parents work together to create a rich environment that supports the learning and development of each child.

Curriculum

We use a variety of materials and tools to support the learning and development of each child.

Social and Emotional Development

The preschool years are a time of enormous social and emotional development. Children are learning how to understand and identify their own emotions, as well as recognize those emotions in others. They are learning how their own actions may affect others' emotions. And they are learning how to negotiate those interactions with language. We believe that social and emotional development is just as important as academic achievement, and we strive to support the development of each child's social and emotional well-being.

Math and Science

We provide a wide variety of materials to support the development of math and science skills. Our classroom is designed to be a place where children can explore and learn about the natural world, using tools and materials that stimulate their curiosity and creativity. From building with blocks to exploring with sensory bins, our materials are designed to support the discovery and exploration of math and science concepts.

Language, Literacy, and Communication

Literacy happens in our classroom in many ways. Sometimes a child is at a point in their development to spontaneously pick up a sample alphabet and try to replicate it. Other times, literacy springs out of a different activity, like talking about a favorite book or listening to a story. We believe that literacy is about more than just reading and writing, and we strive to incorporate literacy into all aspects of our daily routine.
