Our Services
We offer a wide range of eye care services, including comprehensive ophthalmology, cataract surgery, premium IOLs, ptosis surgery, blepharoplasty, lacrimal surgery, ocular and orbital tumors, thyroid eye disease, optic neuropathies, blepharospasm/hemifacial spasm, amniotic membrane, and adult strabismus surgery. We also offer routine eye exams, glaucoma testing, and treatment for dry eyes.

Our History
Bellingham Eye Physicians has a long-standing tradition of excellence. The company was founded by Robert Alan, MD, who began his practice in Bellingham in 1972. Cataract surgeon Christopher Kullas, MD, joined the group in 2003; and Jean Kassem, MD, specializing in neuro-ophthalmology and oculoplastics, joined us in 2015. Rounding out the group is board-certified Optometrist David Stonnell, OD, who has been with the group since 2001.
Positive Experiences
The staff at Bellingham Eye Physicians, led by Allison Bowman, were friendly, engaging, and informative, making patients feel cared for and attended to. Dr. Christopher Kullas was particularly praised for his expertise, meticulousness, and caring attitude. Other doctors, such as Dr. David Stonnell and Dr. Bergman, were also commended for their professionalism and kindness. The office staff, including Kristy in the optical shop, were described as helpful and courteous.
Negative Experiences
On the other hand, some patients had unsatisfactory experiences with certain doctors, including Dr. Kassem, who was described as cold, uncaring, and uncommunicative. Some patients felt disrespected and dismissively treated, and were unhappy with the lack of concern for their well-being. The front desk staff were sometimes perceived as unfriendly, unsympathetic, and unaccommodating. Long wait times and lack of availability were also cited as issues.
