GardenWise

GardenWise is a landscape architecture and garden design firm located in northern Virginia, just outside of Washington, DC, and Maryland. We specialize in creating unique outdoor spaces that inspire, ranging from city courtyards and roof decks to single-family homes and country estates. Our design approach is hands-on, ensuring that every project blends our creative visions with our clients' desires. This approach has led to numerous awards and features in national and regional publications, including HGTV, Better Homes & Gardens, and The Washington Post.

Our founder, J. Mark White, is a Professionally Licensed Landscape Architect and Garden Designer. He is a native Washingtonian who earned his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Virginia Tech. Mark is a member of several landscape organizations, including the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association, and the Landscape Contractors Association. GardenWise is also a "Class A" licensed contractor.

Our design process begins with an initial site meeting, where we examine the architecture of your home, including important view and access points to the garden spaces. We discuss your landscape improvements and consider your personal style and the home's architectural features. This meeting is at no charge, and we encourage clients to bring any images they have gathered for inspiration. Once we have a clear understanding of your vision, we develop a Landscape Master Plan for your entire outdoor space, which can include elements such as swimming pools, water features, fire features, pergolas, and outdoor furniture selection.

Throughout the process, we ensure that every design stays within your budget and meets your needs. Our goal is to create a one-of-a-kind space that enhances your lifestyle and increases your home's value.
