The South Dakota Optometric Society is a professional organization dedicated to promoting the highest quality eye care and vision health in South Dakota. With a mission to represent its members and promote the highest standard of professional care, we provide resources, information, and continuing education programs for doctors of optometry.

Our Services

At the South Dakota Optometric Society, we offer a range of services and resources to support our members and the community. These include:

• Continuing education programs for doctors of optometry to stay up-to-date on the latest research and technologies
• Advocacy at the state legislature to ensure laws that represent patients' best interests
• Information and resources to assist doctors in providing the highest quality care to their patients
• A public health program, InfantSEE, providing no-cost comprehensive eye and vision assessments for infants 6-12 months old
• A platform for members to connect, share knowledge, and advance their careers

The mission of the South Dakota Optometric Society is to represent its members by promoting the highest quality eye care, through leadership and professional education for member doctors, and by providing information and services to citizens and the government of South Dakota.

Our History

For over a century, the South Dakota Optometric Society has been dedicated to supporting its members and promoting the highest standard of professional care. Today, nearly 80% of optometrists in South Dakota are voluntary members of the society, making us the largest and most influential organization of optometrists in the state.
