Our Story
W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home has been a cornerstone of the Moreland community for over 120 years, meticulously serving Lincoln, Boyle, and Casey Counties with unwavering care and compassion. Founded in 1889 by George Booker Pruitt and his brother Meredith, the funeral home has remained a testament to family tradition and unwavering dedication to serving those in need.
The legacy began with George Booker and Meredith establishing the first Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland. In 1905, they expanded their services to Burnside, with Horace Nicholason, Dorothy Pruitt's grandfather, taking the helm. The partnership dissolved in 1909, with Meredith relocating to Burnside to manage the branch, while George Booker continued to guide the Moreland operation until his passing in 1945.
Over the subsequent generations, the Pruitt family has faithfully upheld the founding principles of compassion, respect, and personalized service. The family's deep roots in the community have fostered a strong sense of trust and understanding, enabling them to provide meaningful support during times of loss.
