Our Story

Smitty's Service has been a trusted name in San Diego for over 75 years. Our story began in 1945 when Merle "Smitty" Smith, a Ford factory mechanic from Kansas, opened a small shop on the corner of Adams and Oregon Streets. Smitty's passion for automotive excellence and customer satisfaction was ignited by his experiences during World War II, where he worked as a foreman of electrical maintenance for Convair. His reputation as an honest and skilled mechanic spread quickly, and Smitty's Service soon became the go-to destination for car owners in the community.

Our Team

Our team is comprised of highly trained and certified technicians, service advisors, and management personnel. Mike Magers, our owner, is an ASE Master Tech with a degree in business from San Diego State and a degree in Transportation Technology from Cuyamaca College. Fadi, our service advisor, has over 20 years of experience in the automotive industry, specializing in top brands such as Ford, Chrysler, Hyundai, Jeep, Toyota, and Lexus. Giuseppe, our technician, brings 35 years of experience and a passion for his work. Together, our team is dedicated to providing outstanding service to our customers.

Our Warranty

We offer a 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty on all our services. We are also a certified center for Tech-NET, which provides a nationwide warranty for up to 36,000 miles.
