Who We Are
Welcome to Meiselwitz-Vollstedt-DeTroye Funeral Home, where we have been serving Kiel and the surrounding communities with compassion and understanding since 1898. Our story begins with Carl J. Meiselwitz, who started a funeral and furniture business in a 30 by 50 foot building at the corner of fourth and Fremont Street. Over the years, we have continued to grow and evolve, with the current owner, Michael DeTroye, ensuring that our dedication to serving the community remains unwavering.
Our Story
Our history is rich with stories of community involvement and commitment to our values. Known affectionately as "Grandpa" to hundreds of Kiel residents, C.J. Meiselwitz was a prominent figure in the city, taking hundreds of kids swimming every summer and planting many trees in the city parks. He also single-handedly carried on the maintenance of the Kiel city cemetery. Today, we continue to honor these traditions while embracing modern practices and technologies to better serve our families.

We are committed to honoring these requests and traditions, ensuring that every service we provide is tailored to meet the specific needs of each family.
