Our Story
For generations, the Curtis-Britch Funeral Homes have been a beacon of support and compassion for families across Orleans and Essex Counties. Founded on the core values of dignity, respect, and personalized service, we have been a trusted presence in the community for over 130 years. Our story began in 1894 with Byron and Augusta Curtis, who established our first funeral home in Newport, Vermont. Fueled by a deep commitment to honoring the memories of those who have passed, Byron and Augusta built a reputation for providing compassionate and attentive care during times of grief.
Their dedication to service was carried on by their son, Justin, and his wife, Frances, who continued to guide the family business with the same unwavering empathy. Over time, Curtis-Britch expanded its reach, opening additional funeral homes in Island Pond and later, acquiring the Converse-Rushford Funeral Homes in Newport and Barton, and the M.R. Davis Funeral Home in Craftsbury Common. These strategic expansions allowed us to serve even more families throughout the region, offering our unwavering support wherever it's needed most.
