Creating environments that form people.

Creating environments that form people. This is the mission statement that guides us here at BCDM Architects. We are dedicated to creating spaces that inspire, uplift, and educate individuals and communities. For over 40 years, we have been working tirelessly to design and build spaces that foster growth, learning, and connection among people.

Our history dates back to 1976 when ZBA was founded by Golden Zenon and Dave Beringer. They brought their experience in educational design to create a firm that focused on educational environments. ZBA was one of the first established African-American firms in Omaha. Over the years, we have evolved and expanded our services to include landscape architecture, religious design, and more.

In 1982, Ciaccio Design Group (CDG) was founded by Dave Ciaccio. Jim Dennell joined the firm in 1988 and added architecture to the practice. The firm later changed its name to Ciaccio Dennell Group (CDG) and worked regionally on both landscape architecture and educational and religious design.

In 1989, Bob Mabrey became a principal at ZBA, and the firm changed its name to ZBM. ZBM's practice focused on education and religious architecture. Zenon soon retired thereafter.

In 2004, the two firms combined their vast educational and religious resources and knowledge to create BCDM Architects. Today, we are a team of 28 design professionals consisting of architects and interior designers. We foster a culture of learning and creativity that inspires new perspectives and solutions in solving design challenges.

Our services include architectural design, interior design, landscape architecture, and master planning. We have worked on various projects such as educational facilities, religious institutions, and community spaces. Our goal is to create environments that not only serve their purpose but also inspire and uplift the people who use them.

At BCDM Architects, we believe that the most important thing in life is each other. We understand that the environments we live in shape the people we become and the things we achieve. We are dedicated to our mission of creating spaces that foster growth, learning, and connection among people.

Our Process

Our process is collaborative and client-centered. We work closely with our clients to understand their needs and vision for the project. We believe that every project is unique and requires a tailored approach to meet the specific goals and requirements of the client.

We start by conducting thorough research and analysis to understand the site, the community, and the client's needs. This information helps us to develop a conceptual design that meets the project's objectives. We then work with the client to refine the design, ensuring that it aligns with their vision and budget.

Once the design is finalized, we move on to the construction phase. We work closely with the contractors to ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Throughout the process, we maintain open communication with the client, keeping them informed about the project's progress and any changes that may arise. Our goal is to deliver a project that exceeds the client's expectations and meets their needs.

Our Projects

Over the years, we have worked on numerous projects that reflect our commitment to creating environments that inspire and uplift people. Some of our notable projects include:

  • Discovery Hall at the University of Nebraska at Kearney: This project involved the design of a state-of-the-art academic building that provides a collaborative learning environment for students and faculty.
  • St. Gabriel Catholic Church: This project involved the design of a new church that serves as a gathering place for the community and provides a space for worship and reflection.
  • Dr. J.P. Lord School: This project involved the design of a school that caters to students with special needs. The facility is designed to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Good Shepherd Catholic Church: This project involved the design of a new church that serves as a gathering place for the community and provides a space for worship and reflection.

These projects demonstrate our ability to create environments that are not only functional but also inspiring and uplifting. We believe that the spaces we design should reflect the values and needs of the people who use them.

Our Values

At BCDM Architects, we believe in the following values:

  • Collaboration: We believe that the best results come from working together as a team. We foster a culture of collaboration and open communication among our staff and with our clients.
  • Innovation: We believe in pushing the boundaries of design and finding new and creative solutions to meet our clients' needs.
  • Integrity: We believe in honesty and transparency in all our dealings. We are committed to delivering high-quality work and maintaining the trust of our clients.
