Little Discoveries Early Learning Center

Little Discoveries Early Learning Center has been a cornerstone of the Carson Valley community since 2009. Founded by David and Wendy Singer, our journey began with a passion for nurturing young minds in a loving and stimulating environment. What started as a small in-home daycare for six children has blossomed into two vibrant childcare facilities, capable of welcoming almost 100 children.

Our family-run business, now complemented by our daughter Meaghan, a licensed Director, is dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education. We take pride in our team of experienced and passionate educators, many of whom have been with us for years, contributing their years of experience, knowledge, and unwavering love for learning.

At Little Discoveries, safety, cleanliness, and a nurturing environment are paramount. We believe that children learn best in a structured and predictable setting, and our carefully crafted daily schedule caters to their diverse needs and abilities.

Our Approach to Learning

We believe that "play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood." -As stated by Fred Rogers, we embrace play-based learning as the cornerstone of our educational philosophy.

Our curriculum is designed to foster holistic development, encompassing social, cognitive, linguistic, emotional, and physical growth. Driven by observation and assessment, our team tailors learning experiences to each child's individual pace and interests.

The daily rhythm at Little Discoveries includes a variety of age-appropriate activities that ignite curiosity and encourage exploration. From engaging in structured Learning Centers such as STEM, Dramatic Play, Fine Motor, Manipulatives, Music and Movement, to participating in Circle Time, Indoor and Outdoor Play, Art, Story Time, Meal and Snack Time, and Rest Time, children are constantly stimulated and encouraged to learn through hands-on experiences.

We utilize the Brigance assessment tool to regularly evaluate each child's progress in key developmental areas, such as Communication, Gross Motor, Fine Motor, and Problem Solving. These assessments guide our teaching practices, ensuring we provide targeted support and opportunities for growth.
