Meet Dr. Gerald Loyacona

Dr. Loyacona is a Board Certified Orthodontist with over 30 years of experience in creating beautiful and healthy smiles. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Saint Vincent College and a Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh. He further specialized in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics through a 3-year residency at the University of Pittsburgh, where he also served as a teaching fellow in the Department of Orthodontics.

Early Treatment: Phase I

Phase I treatment, also known as early treatment, is the first step in orthodontic care for children. It is typically recommended for children between the ages of 7 and 10 when their permanent teeth are still developing. During this phase, orthodontic issues such as crowding, crossbite, or protruding teeth can be addressed.

Adolescent Treatment: Phase II

The second phase of orthodontic care is usually started once all the permanent teeth have erupted. Phase II treatment, which is typically around the ages of 11 to 13, helps create a harmonious bite, enhancing the appearance and function of the smile. This phase focuses on aligning the permanent teeth and improving their position and bite.
