At SJH Engineering, P.C., we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive array of consulting engineering, design, inspection, and construction management services to public agencies and private entities throughout the region. With offices in central New Jersey and New York, we specialize in civil, structural, and transportation projects. Since starting full operations in 2006, we have experienced steady growth, which is a testament to the range of high-quality services that we provide.

Our team consists of over 80 qualified, dedicated personnel who specialize in design, structural engineering, civil engineering, construction inspections, and construction management services. We also offer architectural, MEP engineering, and geotechnical engineering in-house. As a certified SBE / MBE / DBE firm in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Washington, D.C., Georgia, and Florida, we can supplement any team with our specialized experience and offer the added benefit of supporting subcontracting goals.

Leadership

Principal S. Jayakumaran, PhD, PE, SE, is a multitalented engineer, responsible for leading SJH's involvement in design and inspection projects with construction costs up to $1.7 billion. During his engineering career, Dr. Jayakumaran has functioned in the capacity of project manager, quality control engineer, project engineer, and senior analyst. His hands-on principal involvement with SJH pursuits results in successful design, supervision, and management of award-winning work. His project expertise has contributed to building rehabilitation, structural, civil, bridge, railroad, tunnels, and transportation engineering projects throughout the east coast. He is extensively familiar with local, state, and federal regulations.

Senior Vice President Jing Kang, PE, is a senior leader and key decision maker, responsible for managing daily operations and providing QA / QC for our robust bridge design group. With three decades of industry experience, Mr. Kang's background includes inspection, analysis, design, preparation of contract documents, construction support, management, value engineering, and supervision of complex highway structures, as well as multifaceted coordination activities with public agencies and private utilities. He has managed many NJTA, NJDOT, NJ Transit, PANYNJ, NYCDOT, and NYSDOT reconstruction projects, including the design of the first cable-stayed bridge over navigable water in the State of New York, a federally funded project involving coordination and permitting with over 15 Federal, State, and City agencies. Mr. Kang has an MS degree in Structural Engineering and a BS in Civil Engineering. He is a registered Professional Engineer in NJ, NY, and PA. He is a member of the Municipal Engineers of the City of New York, the American Council of Engineering Companies, and the Design-Build Institute of America.

Our team consists of structural, highway, transportation, civil, and construction engineers, as well as support staff and administrative personnel.
