*Dr. Ben Hoelscher*

As a native of Dubuque, Dr. Hoelscher takes pride in serving his community by crafting stunning smiles. He earned his dental degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and completed his orthodontics residency at the University of Iowa. Dr. Hoelscher is a proud member of the American Association of Orthodontists, with a strong commitment to continuing education and staying current with the latest advancements in the field.

While not in the office, Dr. Hoelscher enjoys spending time with his wife, Emily, and their three children, Sam, Ava, and Vivian. He is also an avid cyclist, keeping active and contributing to the vibrant Dubuque community.

*Dr. John Duehr (Retired)*

For over 30 years, Dr. John Duehr served the Dubuque community with a passion for orthodontics. Although he retired in August 2017, Dr. Duehr occasionally visits the office to share his knowledge and experience with our team and patients. During his spare time, Dr. Duehr enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Deb, and their six grandchildren.

Your First Visit to Hoelscher Orthodontics

We welcome patients of all ages to schedule their first visit to Hoelscher Orthodontics. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have their initial orthodontic evaluation no later than age 7. While most children won't require immediate treatment, early examination enables us to detect any developing problems and take action accordingly. When interceptive treatment is not needed, we monitor the patient's dental development and initiate treatment at the ideal time.

During the first visit, we will provide a tour of our office, followed by a brief examination by Dr. Hoelscher. Afterward, you will receive preliminary findings and a discussion of available treatment options. Don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have; we are here to provide clarity and support throughout the process.

Our State-of-the-Art Dubuque Orthodontic Office

We are proud to have completely renovated our Dubuque office, featuring an inviting layout, sleek design, and state-of-the-art technologies. These state-of-the-art technologies include digital radiographs, photography, and electronic records. One such technology is our intraoral scanner, allowing us to obtain records of a patient's teeth without having to take traditional impressions, ensuring a more comfortable experience.

When Should I See an Orthodontist?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends the first orthodontist visit around age 7, unless otherwise indicated by the child's dentist. At this stage, most children do not require orthodontic treatment. However, early examination helps us identify any potential issues and intervene effectively, minimizing invasive procedures in the future.
