Our Story

Proietti's was founded in 1965 by Whitey Proietti, who started his food business in the heart of Rochester working in a pizzeria. After graduating from high school, Whitey and his father bought the pizzeria, and business grew rapidly. In 1969, Whitey's brother, Pat, joined the business, and the two decided to open a second location. They chose the Webster Plaza, and the new restaurant opened as one of the plaza's first tenants.

Ten years later, Whitey decided to make a change and transformed the pizzeria into an Italian restaurant. He closed the restaurant for three months, renovated it, and reopened as Proietti's Italian Restaurant in 1980. Since then, Whitey has dedicated his life to serving beautifully cooked and tempting food, both in the restaurant and through his full-service catering business.
