Our Story

Our journey began with Jason Chapman, the owner and lead operator, who started his career in heavy construction and excavation at the tender age of 18 in California. With years of hands-on experience, he honed his skills operating heavy equipment and honing his expertise in excavation, grading, trenching, and land clearing contracting. As his career progressed, he worked for various contractors, taking on more complex projects and expanding his repertoire to include civil systems, sewage systems, and septic system installation.

In 2001, Jason made the permanent move to Durango, CO, and transformed his operation from a backhoe rental service to a full-service excavation contracting firm. Accurate Backhoe and Excavation was officially born, focusing on custom home construction, septic and utility construction, light commercial projects, and occasional large commercial construction.
