Who We Are
Island Volunteer Caregivers (IVC) is an independent nonprofit 501(c)(3) that has been serving Bainbridge Island and area communities since 1996. We provide essential support and resources to older adults and adults with disabilities, caregivers, and offer grief support to those in need. Our mission is to connect neighbors facing challenges related to aging, disability, or adversity with volunteers and resources to support independent and fulfilling lives.
Our History
Over the years, IVC has grown to become a vital part of the community, providing a network of support that is both personal and comprehensive. From companionship to practical assistance, we offer a range of services designed to promote dignity, health, and well-being for all our participants. Whether it's through our volunteer program, resources for caregivers, or support services for those in need, IVC is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of our neighbors.
Our Programs
Our programs are designed to address the diverse needs of our community, from companionship and social interaction to practical assistance and support services. We connect neighbors facing challenges with volunteers and resources, empowering them to live independently and with dignity. Whether it's through our volunteer program, resources for caregivers, or support services for those in need, IVC is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of our neighbors.
Volunteer Services
Our volunteers are the heart of IVC, serving with open hearts and a desire to give back to their community. They often become a constant presence in the lives of our Care Receivers, providing companionship, support, and a sense of connection. Whether it's through regular visits, transportation services, or assistance with daily tasks, our volunteers help ensure that those in need feel seen, heard, and valued.
Care Receivers
Our Care Receivers are a delightfully diverse group of ages, interests, needs, and capabilities. We serve seniors who desire to maintain their independent living situations, as well as those with short or long-term special needs. Many are no longer able to drive and need transportation services, while others require temporary assistance. Through our programs, we strive to meet the unique needs of each individual, promoting dignity, health, and well-being in all aspects of life.
