Curewell Medical Center was established in the year 2000 by Dr. Sunil Chandra. Our Providers

Sunil Chandra, MD, is a double Board Certified physician and has been practicing for over 40 years. After finishing his residency in New York, he moved to Tuscaloosa to pursue his career in medicine. He established Curewell Medical Center in 2000 and has been growing the practice ever since. Dr. Chandra is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Joanna Bun drum, CRNP, is an experienced nurse practitioner and has been working in the Tuscaloosa area for over 20 years. Caroline Gant, CRNP, is a Tuscaloosa native who is passionate about preventative health in her community. Caroline is excited to make a positive impact as a nurse practitioner. She is Board Certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners in Adult Geriatric Primary care.

Insurance: We accept nearly all major insurance plans including Medicare, BCBS AL PPO, BCBS AL PMD, CIGNA HMO, CIGNA Open Access Plus, CIGNA PPO, Humana ChoiceCare Network PPO, United Health Care, Tricare, and Tricare Prime. For the most up-to-date information on our accepted private health insurance plans, contact our clinic directly at 205-366-9898. Save time when visiting the office and download all your patient forms here. Additional Fees: There is an additional $20 dollar fee for completion of forms for use outside of the patient's medical record, including Day Care Pre-Employment Employment Life Insurance Family.
