Our Story

Southern Funeral Home has been serving the communities of Winnfield, LA and Jonesboro, LA with unwavering dedication since its inception. Our journey began on August 26, 1939, when our first facility opened its doors at 402 E. Main St. The founders, Mr. J.D. Jeffress and Mr. F.B. Carter, both hailing from Jonesboro, established a foundation of compassion and excellence. In 1944, Southern Funeral Homes in Winnfield and Jonesboro found new ownership under the capable hands of R.W. and Janie Spurlock Bryan. Their commitment to providing exceptional funeral services and supporting families in their time of need propelled Southern Funeral Home to new heights. In 1945, William Ervin Price and Evelyn Bryan Price took the helm of Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield, while W.D. "Bill" Holder and Farrah Bryan Holder skillfully managed the Southern Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Together, these dedicated individuals brought their expertise and compassionate approach to ensure that each family received the utmost care and attention during their most difficult moments.

Our Locations

Southern Funeral Home has two locations in north central Louisiana, serving the communities of Winnfield and Jonesboro. Our Winnfield location is situated at 202 E. Lafayette St., Winnfield, LA 71483, and our Jonesboro location is at 105 6th Street, Jonesboro, LA 71251. Both facilities are handicapped accessible and equipped to handle all aspects of funeral services, from traditional funerals to cremations and memorial services.
