At Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, we take pride in our rich history and commitment to serving the families of Park Ridge, Edison Park, Des Plaines, Niles, Glenview, Chicago, and the Northwest Suburbs. With three generations of service, we have been providing personal, professional, and dignified service to those in need. Our story begins in 1936 when our founder, Clement J. Ryan Sr., opened the original funeral home in a charming brown brick bungalow located at 120 South Northwest Highway, where our current facility now stands.
Clem Sr. was not only a pioneering entrepreneur but also a compassionate individual who saw the importance of providing quality services to the community. In 1950, he established the first ambulance service in the area, which flourished for over 25 years, answering over 1,500 calls per year at its peak. Tragically, Clem Sr. passed away at the age of 83, leaving behind his loving wife, Luella, who passed away in 1992 at the age of 93.
It was then that Clem Jr., who had been involved in the operations of the home since he was a boy, took over the operations of the business. Clem Jr. had already graduated from the University of Illinois and had served a year in the U.S. Army. He began attending Worsham College of Mortuary Service while working at the home full-time. Soon after, he married Rosemary La Forte of Park Ridge, and they had four children together, David, Daniel, Cristen, and Michael. Clem Jr. was not only dedicated to his family but also to giving back to the community through various organizations.
In 1993, Michael joined his father in the business, marking the beginning of their third generation of service. We are proud to carry on the legacy of our family's heritage of personal commitment and community involvement.
