Gardening Volunteers

At Gardening Volunteers of South Texas, we are a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization dedicated to promoting water conservation and environmental awareness through education and community involvement. Founded in 2002, our mission is to provide informational and educational resources to individuals and organizations, empowering them to adopt a culture of water conservation in their daily lives.

Our Services

We offer a range of services and programs designed to promote water conservation and sustainable gardening practices. Our monthly "Gardening Essentials" class provides hands-on training and expert advice on gardening and landscaping techniques. Our "Design School" program offers semi-annual half-day seminars and one-on-one landscape design consultations. Additionally, our "Gardening 101" series provides a comprehensive learning experience, combining innovative ideas with in-depth how-to-gardening information.

We also participate in various community events and projects, including neighborhood landscape fairs, gardening shows, and service projects. Our "Neighborhood Landscape Fairs" bring expert advice and resources directly to local communities, promoting water-saving landscaping and gardening practices. Our new monthly gardening show, "Go Gardening, " features three segments, including a landscape feature, a "how-to" segment, and a water conservation segment.

Our History

Gardening Volunteers of South Texas was founded by a group of dedicated gardeners who wanted to make a difference in their community. With the encouragement of prominent garden mentors, our organization was established in 2002. Today, we have members from various backgrounds, including Master Gardeners, Native Plant Society, Rose Society, and Herb Society, all united by our passion for water conservation and sustainable gardening practices.
