Where elegance meets tradition
Our Story
At the Skirvin Hilton, we take pride in our rich history and legacy as one of the oldest and most iconic hotels in Oklahoma City. Our story is a testament to the city's resilience and determination to thrive and grow. From its humble beginnings as a small hotel in 1911 to its current status as a premier luxury hotel, the Skirvin Hilton has undergone several transformations and renovations over the years.
History
Our hotel's roots date back to 1911, when it was founded by William Balser "Bill" Skirvin, who named the hotel after his daughter, Perle Mesta, who later became the ambassador to Luxembourg under Harry Truman. With an initial capacity of 225 rooms, the hotel quickly gained popularity as a luxurious accommodation in the heart of Oklahoma City.
Throughout the years, the Skirvin Hilton has played host to numerous notable figures, including Harry Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Hoffa, and Bob Hope. The hotel's grand ballrooms have witnessed countless celebrations and events, cementing its reputation as the premier event venue in Oklahoma City.
The Rebirth of the Skirvin Hilton
In the late 1980s, the Skirvin Hilton closed its doors due to financial difficulties. It remained vacant for nearly two decades before undergoing a massive renovation project in the early 2000s. The hotel reopened in 2007, after a six-year, $50 million restoration project. This new lease on life marked the beginning of a new era for the Skirvin Hilton, as it transformed into the modern luxury hotel we know and love today.
