Blue Stem Designs

Blue Stem Design is a boutique full-service interior and landscape design studio based out of Oregon's north coast. We specialize in seamlessly blending living space and landscape, creating beautiful and livable spaces that reflect our clients' unique lifestyles. Our principal designer and owner, Liz Morton, has over 20 years of experience in the design industry, including working for a successful high-end residential interior design firm. Growing up with a family home in Gearhart and spending every free minute exploring and surfing the Oregon coast, it was a natural next step for Liz to open a design studio at the coast. Drawing inspiration from her clients and the dramatic coastline, Liz cultivates spaces that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.

Our Services

We offer a wide range of services including complete or partial landscape plans, outdoor furniture selection and styling, seasonal plantings, plant procurement, container gardens, and interior design for renovations and new construction. Our interior design services include full-service design for bathrooms and kitchens, color palette selection, and styling furnishings, accessories, and art. We also specialize in preparing homes for the real estate market and one-of-a-kind antique procurement.

Current & Past Projects

We have worked on several notable projects including the Irivington Bungalow, a 1926 Portland bungalow that underwent a transformative renovation, bringing a fresh modern feel while preserving its period charm. We also designed the Surf Tiki Waikiki vacation rental in Hawaii, drawing inspiration from the islands' bright color palette, vintage tiki bar vibes, and laid-back surf culture. Our landscape design projects include the Flower Farm Garden and the vintage Aloha trailer renovation, among others.

Liz Morton is the principal designer and owner of Blue Stem Design. She holds a degree in landscape design and has worked in the design industry for over 20 years. Her passion for design and the Oregon coast has led her to create spaces that are both beautiful and functional, reflecting the unique lifestyles of her clients.
