About the Midwife

Rachel Slade, CPM, LM, and CMT, is the dedicated midwife and massage therapist behind Long Meadow Holistic Home. Rachel is a licensed home birth midwife, offering postpartum care and the soothing touch of massage therapy in Santa Cruz county and surrounding areas. While she is not currently accepting clients for full midwifery care, Rachel remains passionately committed to supporting families during the childbearing year.

Rachel's midwifery journey began at a young age, with a deep-rooted desire to support pregnant women and babies. After pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education, Rachel reconnected with her midwifery dreams and completed a workshop with Elizabeth Davis in 2012. This marked the beginning of her formal midwifery education at Birthingway College of Midwifery in Portland, Oregon. Rachel has since completed her Certificate in Midwifery, obtained her CPM and CA licensure, and assisted various midwives in the Santa Cruz and San Jose areas.

Massage Therapy Services

Rachel, a certified massage therapist, has expanded her offerings to include massage therapy services, recognizing the need for additional support and nurturing for new families. Massage therapy can provide numerous benefits for new parents, including relaxation, stress reduction, and pain relief. Rachel is trained in Swedish massage, Craniosacral therapy, and Polarity energetic therapy, allowing her to provide a customized and holistic approach to massage.

Postpartum Care

Long Meadow Holistic Home offers comprehensive postpartum care that encompasses both physical and emotional well-being. Under Rachel's attentive care, families can expect support and guidance through the often overwhelming period following childbirth. Services include home visits, lactation support, and newborn care counseling, all designed to provide a nurturing and empowering environment for new mothers and their families.
