Tom Good architect is a one-person independent architectural consulting service that specializes in writing concise greener building specifications for other architects. Our services cater to a wide range of projects, including commercial and public buildings, multi-family housing, and hospitality projects, with construction costs ranging from $2 to $40 million. We are accredited in and familiar with several green building rating systems.
Getting Started
The best time to hire us is near the end of the schematic design phase. To get started, please contact us and provide a completed Architectural Specifications Consulting Services Request Form. We will then send you a proposal outlining our services and fees. Based on your feedback, we will proceed with sending you an agreement to sign and begin the project.
Typical Scope
Our services include advising on material and product selection, researching and reporting on proposed products for environmental implications, durability, and performance. We also ensure the coordination of consulting services with the project's design intent through frequent communications with the architect and consulting design team. Typically, all communications can be handled over the phone and internet, but we are available to meet in person if needed.
Typical Fees
The fees for our services vary based on the scope and complexity of each project. A detailed proposal outlining our fees will be provided upon request.
Design Development
Once we have received your agreement, we will proceed with the design development phase. This typically involves about a month to produce a DD spec.
Construction Documents
After the design development phase, we will move on to the construction documents phase, which also requires about a month to produce a CD spec.
