Release, Relax, Unwind: Put Your Body in Good Hands
Welcome to Dahlia Bursell Acupuncture, a holistic healing practice that aims to restore health and balance in your life through the ancient art of acupuncture. Our founder, Dahlia Burll, is a licensed acupuncturist with a Master's degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture. With formal training in both Chinese and Japanese style acupuncture, as well as Chinese Herbal Medicine, Dahlia is passionate about helping people achieve their health goals.
At Dahlia Bursell Acupuncture, we believe that everyone can benefit from the powerful therapy of acupuncture. As Lao Tzu once said, "When you touch one thing with deep awareness, you touch everything." This principle is at the heart of our practice, as we strive to understand each patient's unique needs and tailor our treatments accordingly.
Our Philosophy
Acupuncture is a system of complementary medicine that involves treating the skin or tissues with needles to alleviate pain and treat various physical, mental, and emotional conditions. Originating in ancient China, acupuncture is now widely practiced in the West and has been proven to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions.
At Dahlia Bursell Acupuncture, we believe that every patient is unique, and therefore, no two treatments are the same. We use simple diagnostic techniques to identify blockages and restore the smooth flow of energy in the body. By inserting sterile, hair-thin needles into specific points along the channel pathways, we can adjust the flow of energy and allow the body to heal itself.
Our Techniques
The sensation of needle insertion varies from person to person and can also vary depending on the area of the body being needled. At Dahlia Bursell Acupuncture, we use gentle needle insertion techniques to minimize discomfort. After needle insertion, you might notice a feeling of heaviness, warmth, tingling, or even an electric sensation. These are all normal sensations that indicate the body's energy is shifting and healing is taking place.
In addition to needle insertion, we may also use other techniques to enhance the treatment and promote healing. Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy that involves the burning of the medicinal herb mugwort. This therapy is often used to warm and move qi and blood, providing a relaxing and warming sensation. Cupping is another therapy used to stimulate the body by applying mild suction through the use of small glass cups. Cupping is often used for muscle tension, backaches, sprains, soft tissue injuries, fluid congestion in the lungs, and detoxification. This therapy may leave a red mark on the body that will dissipate within a few days.
At Dahlia Bursell Acupuncture, we also offer aroma acupoint therapy, which involves the use of natural and high-quality plant essential oils to balance the body and mind. The essential oils can be used topically on acupuncture points as well as through inhalation.
