Our History

Our agency's rich history dates back to 1900, when John B. Shafer founded the agency in Byesville, Ohio. In 1923, after John B.'s passing, his son, L. M. "Bing" Shafer, took over the agency and continued the family tradition. In 1956, John R. Shafer joined his father in the agency and played a significant role in shaping the agency's future. After John R.'s passing in 2019, the agency became owned by the fourth generation of the Shafer family. Our current owner, Mindy Eltringham, has been with the agency for over 25 years and has been instrumental in ensuring the continued success of the agency.
