Bloomington Pediatric Speech

Welcome to Bloomington Pediatric Speech Therapy! We are a private speech therapy clinic located in Bloomington, Indiana. Since we opened our doors in 2011, we have offered evaluations and treatment for children with speech and language challenges. However, more recently we have also started offering support for neurodiverse adults. Our team is dedicated to providing a comprehensive range of services designed to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Services for Kids

We offer comprehensive evaluations and treatment for many pediatric speech and language challenges. Our team has speech therapists that are specifically passionate about articulation, preschool and school-age language disorders, and social language skills (using the Social Thinking methodology). Our services include individual therapy sessions, social skills groups, and summer speech therapy for children who are already receiving speech therapy through an individual education plan (IEP).

Support for Neurodiverse Adults

We also offer support for neurodiverse professionals and college students. This service is best suited for someone who feels successful in most areas of life, but struggles to make friends, has trouble with time management, and/or has difficulty staying organized. Our sessions focus on executive functioning and social language skills.

Social Skills Groups

We offer social skills groups with therapists who have been trained in the Social Thinking methodology. These groups provide a safe and supportive space to practice friendship and interpersonal skills. Participation in a group is typically paired with weekly or bi-weekly individual treatment sessions.

Contracting Services

In addition to having our clinic in Bloomington, Indiana, we provide excellent in-person speech therapy through contracting to public, private, and charter schools throughout south central Indiana. We have worked with school districts to meet a variety of caseload needs: part-time, full-time, maternity leaves, and short and long-term contracts.

Our Team

Our team is comprised of experienced speech-language pathologists, who are guided by our two owners, Melinda Dowling and Rachel Mahrt. Both Melinda and Rachel earned their master's degrees in speech-language pathology from Indiana University and have extensive experience in the field. They continue to use their expertise in schools through their roles at BPST as both supervisors for school therapists and with their own speech therapy caseloads.
