Dr. Jan Bender, a native of Hood River, Oregon, was inspired by her parents' emphasis on healthy living. She graduated from Oregon State with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1975 and later pursued her passion for chiropractic care, earning her Doctorate of Chiropractic Degree from Western States Chiropractic College in 1999. Dr. Bender founded Avista Chiropractic in Portland, Oregon, and has been providing exceptional chiropractic care to her patients for over two decades.

Dr. Bender's treatment philosophy focuses on offering short-term treatment plans with long-term relief. Her dedication to her patients and her passion for chiropractic care have made her a trusted and respected figure in the chiropractic community.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Bender enjoys cooking, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family. She is an avid reader, a Pinterest peruser, and a crossword puzzle enthusiast. She also cherishes her role as "Grammy" to her two grandchildren.

New Patients - What to Expect

As a new patient, we want you to feel comfortable and informed about your visit. Here's what you can expect:

1. Directions: We're conveniently located on the west side of downtown Portland. Our office is located in 'You. Center for Health and Wellness'. 2. First Visit Paperwork: When you arrive at our office, you will be greeted by our friendly staff. As a new patient, we request that you fill out some paperwork that we can email you before your first appointment.

3. Consultation: Discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. Specialized tests will be performed to determine which tissues are affected and to what extent. After the initial examination, patients will be provided with their first treatment during this same visit. The appointment in total takes 45 minutes. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapies, and/or soft tissue therapies.

4. Schedule Your Next Appointment: You can schedule a follow-up visit at a time that is convenient for you. We aim to accommodate you as soon as possible, with no long wait periods.
