At the Grand Canyon State Electric Cooperative Association, we are a non-profit organization that represents the interests of Arizona's member-owned, rural electric cooperatives. Our primary goal is to serve as a platform for these cooperatives to come together and work towards creating a clean, reliable, and bright energy future for the communities they serve.
Our association is comprised of 12 electric cooperatives, which together serve more than 160,000 members across the state. These member-owned cooperatives are guided by the Seven Cooperative Principles, which emphasize the importance of democratic member control, economic participation, limited return on equity, and concern for the community.
As an organization, we are committed to representing, advancing, and protecting the interests of our member cooperatives. We believe that by working together, we can better serve our members and the communities they live in.
Our Mission and Vision
Our mission is to provide support and resources to our member cooperatives, helping them to provide safe, reliable, and affordable electricity to their members. We aim to do this by promoting policies and regulations that benefit our members, offering training and education programs to enhance their skills and knowledge, and providing opportunities for networking and collaboration among our member cooperatives.
Our vision is to create a future where Arizona's rural electric cooperatives are recognized as leaders in the energy industry, known for their commitment to innovation, sustainability, and community development. We envision a future where our member cooperatives are able to provide clean, reliable, and affordable electricity to all of their members, helping to improve their quality of life and support the economic growth of their communities.
Our Services
We offer a variety of services to our member cooperatives, including education programs, government relations, and publications and communications. Our education programs are designed to help cooperative employees and board members enhance their skills and knowledge, with topics ranging from safety training to financial management. Our government relations efforts focus on advocating for policies and regulations that benefit our member cooperatives and their members, both at the state and federal levels. Finally, our publications and communications efforts aim to keep our members informed about the latest news and developments affecting the electric cooperative industry.
In addition to these services, we also offer opportunities for networking and collaboration among our member cooperatives. We believe that by working together and sharing ideas and best practices, our member cooperatives can better serve their members and support the economic growth of their communities.
