History of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home

Our history dates back to 1913 when Ansel W. Kirkpatrick established the New Holland home at 28 South Main Street. Following his graduation from the Cleveland Embalming School, Ansel operated the business continuously at the same location, passed down through generations of the Kirkpatrick family.

In 1945, Richard W. Kirkpatrick, a second-generation funeral director/embalmer, joined the business following his graduation from the Cincinnati College of Embalming and three years of service with the U.S. Army during World War II.

The Kirkpatrick family expanded its services to the Washington Court House and Fayette County area in 1948, purchasing the Klever Funeral Home and operating it as the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home at 554 Washington Avenue, Washington Court House, Ohio.

Roger E. Kirkpatrick became the third generation of funeral directors and embalmers when he joined the firm in 1969 following his graduation from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He and his wife, Diana, currently own and operate both funeral home locations, continuing the family tradition of personalized and compassionate services.
