Melody & Motion School

At Melody & Motion, we pride ourselves on providing a nurturing environment where students can develop their passion for dance and music. Our school has been a staple in southern Tuscarawas County for over 20 years, offering a wide range of classes for children and teens ages two through eighteen.

Our Story

Our owner and lead teacher, Jessica Callender, has been dancing since the age of two. She has extensively trained in various dance styles, including ballet, tap, and modern, as well as studying voice and piano at Ohio University and Akron University. Her extensive background in dance and music has enabled her to develop a unique teaching style that focuses on technical skill-building while promoting creativity and self-expression.

Our Services

At Melody & Motion, we offer a variety of dance and music classes for all ages and skill levels. Our programs include:

• Tiny Tot classes for our youngest students, focusing on basic ballet and movement patterns
• Pre-Dance and K-Combo classes for kindergarten and first-grade students, emphasizing music, timing, and movement patterns
• Jazz and Tap classes for second-grade and up, focusing on stretching, warm-up, and routine performance
• Tumbling and Baton classes for second-grade and up, emphasizing strength, flexibility, and coordination
• Ballet classes for second-grade and up, with levels ranging from beginner to advanced, including pointe work for more experienced students
• Private piano and voice lessons for children and adults

At Melody & Motion, we pride ourselves on creating a positive and supportive environment where students can grow and thrive. We believe that communication is key, which is why we have an open-door policy and maintain a parent Facebook group, M&M Parents, where we post important announcements, documents, and photos. Our office manager and teachers are always available to answer questions and address concerns via phone, text, and Facebook messenger.

Convenience and Support

We understand that juggling schedules and activities can be challenging. That's why we offer flexible class scheduling, including year-round programs and summer camps. Our in-house shoe fitting service ensures that students have the proper footwear for their dance or tumbling class. For added convenience, we also offer online shopping for dance shoes, leotards, and other dance-related necessities.

Performance Opportunities

At Melody & Motion, we believe that performance is an essential part of the learning process. Our students have the opportunity to participate in annual Christmas and spring recitals, showcasing their hard work and progress. We also offer excerpts from The Nutcracker at our Christmas show and lyrical routines in the spring recital for our advanced ballet students.
