Jon Walsh, our founder and President, began his career working for CNN in New York City. However, he was partially inspired by his father, a successful New York architect, and chose to follow another passion. After starting as a carpenter's apprentice, Jon rose to the rank of journeyman carpenter and refined his skills as a builder in collaboration with New York City artisans and European craftsmen. He spent a number of years as a design-build supervisor in New York, under the tutelage of a Yale-trained architect, prior to founding the initial inception of Walsh Construction in 1997. Having relocated to San Diego in the early 2000s, Jon worked as a foreman and re-opened the business as J. Walsh Construction, Inc., in 2005.
