Our creations are always flawlessly functional and unmistakably elegant. We are environmentally conscious and our products are handcrafted right here in California. We will hear your wishes, consider your needs, and tailor each detail to meet and exceed your expectations.

Architectural Elements and Exterior Design

No project is too big or too small - be it your home, office, shop, or restaurant. We'll apply our experience and expertise to make your location become anything you desire, a notable city landmark or a cozy family retreat. Whether the project calls for wood, metal, stone, glass, acrylic, etc. We employ our distinct design language and meticulous execution to fulfill your highest expectations.

Retail Display Design

We've been developing design concepts for retail environments and retail (point of purchase) displays for over 10 years. From smaller countertop display units to larger floor stand displays and entire store build-outs, we'll enthrone your product in a mix of different materials, so no two projects are alike and the possibilities are virtually limitless. For your specific needs, we'll cover all aspects of the project: initial meetings, napkin sketches, computer renderings, engineering, and technical drawings, prototyping, outsourcing for manufacturing, and project management.

Our Story

It all began when a furniture designer married an interior designer and created Studio SIMIC. Combining our passions for design and craftsmanship, on each of our projects, we practice a healthy multi-disciplinary approach which makes us stand out in the crowded design market. Everything we do is out of love - for our trade, our two amazing kids, and each other. We wouldn't have it any other way. It must be that mindset of collaboration and passion for exceptional creations why our business lives are so fruitful with accomplishment, and with so many satisfied clients.

How We Design

Our design philosophy is deeply rooted in functionality, simplicity, and geometry. We're fascinated with the boundless possibilities of creation that come from the interplay between geometric complexity and minimalism. Intricate shapes and smart functional solutions thread a common theme through all our design concepts. It is our founding belief that a well-thought-out space or object, which is stripped of all unnecessary clutter, truly changes people's lives for the better.

Srdjan Simic

Perfectionist designer and craftsman by day, dreamer of entangled geometric shapes by night. Srdjan Simic was born in 1975 in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. Growing up, he always had a strong influence and support in design and art from his father, an esteemed professor of structural engineering in architecture, and his mother, a meticulous domestic craftswoman. A sketchbook was never far from reach, even from a very young age. He graduated from The High School for Applied Arts, with emphasis in Graphic design. In 1992, a raging civil war forced him to leave his home country. He spent the next four years seeking refuge in the countries of Western Europe. In 1996, Srdjan moved to the United States, where he developed a strong interest and passion for functional objects, primarily furniture. He received his Bachelor degree in Furniture Design from San Diego State University, under famed furniture artist Wendy Maruyama. Working as a high-end custom furniture/product designer and builder over the next several years, he honed his craftsmanship and structural/mechanical understanding.

Dara Simic

Masterful interior designer, experienced project manager whose judgment you can trust and dedication you can rely on. Dara Simic is a southern California native, born and raised outside of Los Angeles. Growing up, she remembers having a strong passion for architecture and finding custom home design very appealing. Raised by hard-working parents who owned an Italian restaurant, she was immersed in the family business and worked many years before the age of 18. She moved to San Diego in 1997 to study business at San Diego State University. In 1999, she changed her focus to study art and design and graduated with a degree in applied arts with an emphasis in interior design in 2002. From there, she was mentored by a very well-respected and talented residential interior designer in La Jolla, where she assisted in numerous residential remodels. Her desires to know all facets of the industry led her to work for a commercial interior design firm in downtown San Diego, where she grew to hold the positions of design director and project manager. There, she honed her skills in the art of corporate and hospitality design, tenant improvement, as well as multi-family living spaces. She had the great opportunity to design and manage such projects as the UBS International west coast headquarters.
