Our Mission

At Child Watch, our core purpose is to be a beacon of hope and support for children and families navigating the challenging terrain of child abuse and neglect in Western Kentucky. We strive to empower children by advocating for their well-being, fostering safe and nurturing communities, and providing the education and resources necessary to break the cycle of abuse. We believe that every child deserves a bright future free from harm, and we are dedicated to making that a reality.

Our Services: A Foundation of Support

Our comprehensive range of services is designed to meet the diverse needs of children, families, and the community at large. We understand that the impact of abuse and neglect can be devastating and far-reaching, affecting a child's mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Our dedicated team of professionals is committed to providing compassionate and effective support to help individuals heal and thrive.

One of our primary missions is to offer professional mental health counseling to children and teenagers who have experienced any form of maltreatment. Whether it be sexual, physical, emotional abuse, neglect, bullying, or witnessing traumatic events, our licensed therapists create a safe and supportive space for healing. Through evidence-based therapeutic approaches, we empower young individuals to cope with trauma, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and build resilience for the future.

Recognizing the crucial role of advocacy in protecting children's rights, we established the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Program. Trained volunteers from across McCracken, Ballard, Livingston, and Lyon Counties serve as compassionate advocates in court proceedings involving child abuse or neglect cases. These dedicated volunteers tirelessly champion the best interests of children, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met within the complex legal system.

Empowering the community to prevent child abuse is another cornerstone of our work. Through engaging and informative education programs delivered in preschools, elementary schools, camps, and youth organizations across the region, we aim to cultivate a culture of awareness and safety. By equipping adults with the knowledge and skills to recognize and respond to potential abuse, we strive to create a protective shield around vulnerable children. We also provide specialized training workshops for businesses and organizations, empowering them to create safe and supportive environments for all.

A Legacy of Dedication

Child Watch's journey began in 1984 as a beacon of hope for children facing the trauma of abuse and neglect in our community. Recognizing the urgent need for specialized services, a group of passionate community members came together to form a dedicated organization. From our humble beginnings, we have grown into a comprehensive center offering a wide range of support services, including a 24-hour crisis intervention line, therapy, education, and court advocacy.

Over the years, our unwavering commitment to empowering children, supporting families, and preventing abuse has touched countless lives. Today, we continue to stand as a steadfast advocate for children, providing them with the tools and resources they need to heal, grow, and build brighter futures.
