Building Blocks Nursery School

Welcome to Building Blocks Nursery School, a licensed full-time preschool open from 7:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday for children ages two to five in the Bryant neighborhood of Seattle. We welcomed our first students on October 16, 2017. Our mission is to create a learning environment that is fun, safe, and nurturing for all children; a place where children look forward to coming each day and parents feel a sense of comfort, community, and trust knowing their children are receiving the best care possible while learning skills to build their future.

Our Services

We are a play-based preschool that enrolls 34 students: 14 two to three-year-olds in the Juniors classroom and 20 four to five-year-olds in the Preschool. We offer 2, 3, or 5-day per week schedules. Our curriculum focuses on social-emotional readiness to build a strong foundation of skills and knowledge for success in Kindergarten and beyond. We strive to cultivate a love of learning in children, using their natural curiosity to engage in weekly themed units. Skills taught in our classrooms include fine and gross motor, language and literacy, dramatic play, music, gross motor, self-regulation, confidence, and independence, pre-math, and pre-reading.

Classrooms

Building Blocks Nursery School has two classrooms: the Juniors classroom for 2 to 3-year-old children upstairs and the Preschool for 4 to 5-year-old children downstairs. The daily schedule allows for teacher-directed activities and self-initiated activities, as well as time for free play, quiet and active periods, and outdoor playtime. The children experience being in small groups with similar age children, as well as larger age-integrated groups.

Juniors Classroom (Ages 2-3)

Our Juniors classroom hosts 14 children, with two Lead teachers and an Assistant, as well as support staff to ensure the lowest staff to child ratio possible. As children in this age group are experiencing rapid growth and emotional development, we strive to create a comfortable and stable environment, with a mix of structured and individual play-based activities with a focus on social skills and independence (including potty training). Children participate in music and dance classes with our specialists on a bi-weekly basis.

Preschool Classroom (Ages 4-5)

Our Preschool classroom hosts 20 children, with two Lead teachers and an Assistant, as well as support staff to ensure the lowest staff to child ratio possible. As children in this age group are preparing for Kindergarten, we focus on building their academic skills, social skills, and emotional intelligence. Children participate in extracurricular activities, including dance, music, and French class, field trips, and supplies.

Enrollment and Tuition

We accept children on a first-come, first-served basis. Children can attend full-time (five days per week) or part-time (two or three days per week) as space allows. We do not offer half-day or one-day per week options. Priority registration is given to children of staff, siblings of enrolled students, current part-time students who would like to become full-time, and new full-time students. Our 2024 tuition includes all meals and snacks (breakfast, lunch, early and late snack, as well as milk), learning materials, extracurricular activities, including dance, music, and French class, field trips, and supplies.
