Our Story

Millbrook Real Estate Company is a firm built on the same values and principles that drove one of America's great entrepreneurial success stories-the Quill Corporation. Founded in 1956 by Jack Miller, Quill grew from a small operation in his father's chicken store to a $630 million business, all based on an unwavering focus on great customer service, a great organization, hard work, and integrity. This same business philosophy has been carried over to Millbrook Real Estate Company, and these values are present every single day in every Millbrook building and management teams.

In 1997, Quill was sold to Staples, and Jack and Harvey Miller used the 37 acres they owned in Lincolnshire/Buffalo Grove on which Quill was located to create the Millbrook Business Center, thus founding Millbrook Real Estate Company. The Millers built the Millbrook Business Center as a Class A office park with Class A in-house property management. A total of six buildings were developed between 1997 and 2004 totaling 660,000 square feet. In 2005, Millbrook Real Estate Company had its first opportunity to expand its Real Estate Portfolio, with the purchase of a 41,000 square foot office/medical building in Glenview.

The Great Recession of 2008 presented a great opportunity for Millbrook, and in 2009, the company purchased the Arboretum Lakes complex in Lisle, Illinois, a four-building, Class A business park totaling 740,000 square feet. This acquisition more than doubled Millbrook's square footage. In 2012, Millbrook purchased 5215 Old Orchard Road in Skokie, a 210,000 square foot, Class A office building, and in 2013, Millbrook acquired the 67,000 square foot 701 Warrenville Road, restoring Arboretum Lakes to one 807,000 square foot office park under one ownership. Millbrook added 850,000 square feet to their portfolio in 2015-2016, bringing the portfolio to 2.4M square feet. Included in these acquisitions were Highland Pointe, a 375,000 square foot office complex in Lombard IL, 250 E. Wisconsin, a 200,000 square foot, 20-story office building in downtown Milwaukee, WI, and Parkview Plaza, a 265,000 square foot building in Oakbrook Terrace IL. Millbrook has now recently expanded its geographic reach with 3 acquisitions totaling 700,000 sf in the Philadelphia market.

Our team at Millbrook Real Estate Company is comprised of seasoned real estate professionals with extensive experience in the industry. Our team includes:

• Jen Sweeney, President: Jen has over 20 years of experience in commercial real estate. She is responsible for the overall management of the company and its portfolio of properties.
• Rick Barnett, Director of Engineering: Rick has over 25 years of experience in commercial real estate. He is responsible for the maintenance and repair of our properties.
• Anne Persaud, GM-Buffalo Grove: Anne has over 15 years of experience in commercial real estate. She is responsible for the management of our Buffalo Grove portfolio of properties.
• Danielle Schumacher, GM-Milwaukee: Danielle has over 10 years of experience in commercial real estate. She is responsible for the management of our Milwaukee portfolio of properties.
• Marka Donovan, GM-Lombard: Marka has over 15 years of experience in commercial real estate. She is responsible for the management of our Lombard portfolio of properties.
• Gina Narey, GM - Oak Brook & Lisle: Gina has over 15 years of experience in commercial real estate. She is responsible for the management of our Oak Brook and Lisle portfolio of properties.
• Mary Rakowski, Assistant GM - Oak Brook & Lisle: Mary has over 10 years of experience in commercial real estate. She assists in the management of our Oak Brook and Lisle portfolio of properties.
• Jonathan Bernstein, Partner-MB Investments: Jonathan has over 15 years of experience in commercial real estate. He is responsible for the investment and financial management of the company.
