Dandelion Catering Co. was officially launched in 2009 by lifelong Maine residents Christine and Christian Hayes. With a shared dream of creating a catering company that stands out from the crowd, they decided to leave their careers in the restaurant and foodservice industry behind. Their goal was simple yet ambitious: to provide restaurant-quality, freshly prepared food in an industry that often relies on frozen and pre-made ingredients.

Over the years, Dandelion Catering Co. has evolved into one of the most respected and talented catering companies in the region. Despite its humble beginnings as a small, bootstrapped business, Dandelion has grown while maintaining its commitment to service, quality, and the environment. Our company reflects the principles that we live by: simple, approachable, humble, yet unique.

Our Team

Meet our co-founders, Christine and Christian Hayes. Christine, who grew up in a vanilla-loving family, discovered the magic of flavorful food when she started working at the Portland Green Grocer at 17. This experience sparked her passion for cooking and led her to culinary school and various catering companies, including Mim's and Natasha's, where she rose to the position of Sous Chef. She has also worked for Five Fifty-Five and Standard Baking Company, gaining invaluable insights into the culinary industry.

Christian, on the other hand, was inspired by his great-grandmother's homemade strawberry rhubarb jam and fried dough. This childhood memory has stayed with him and fueled his desire to create dishes that leave a lasting impression on those who taste them. He believes that true culinary magic lies in the ability to evoke memories and emotions through food.
