Our Techniques
At Cooley Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Center, we utilize a variety of techniques to alleviate pain and improve function, including:
- Chiropractic Manipulation
- Active Release Technique
- Graston Technique
- Kinesio Taping
- Rehabilitation Exercises
Chiropractic Manipulation
The most common therapeutic procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic is known as "spinal manipulation, " also called "chiropractic adjustment." The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile - or restricted in their movement - as a result of a tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time.
Active Release Technique
Active Release Technique (ART) is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.
Graston Technique
The Graston Technique, originally developed by athletes, is an innovative, evidence-based form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation.
Kinesio Taping
Kinesio Taping is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body's natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body's range of motion. It is used to successfully treat a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and medical conditions.
Rehabilitation Exercises
Many injuries are the result of muscular imbalances and improper biomechanics. In order to prevent injuries and improve athletic performance, it is essential to incorporate rehabilitation exercises into your treatment plan. Our team of experts will work with you to develop a customized exercise program to meet your individual needs.
